Tour of Marrowood
Lore
Marrowood was created when the soil of a forest was polluted. The Fae spirit inhabiting that soil split in two, Pai and Anise. Together they created Marrowood, a hidden world of magic, in an attempt to heal the forest's soil. One part of that soil Fae, Pai, began luring creatures into that place. They looked for creatures who were suffering, close to giving up. She created a utopia for them, a safe place where they could live free of that suffering in a form that made them feel safe. But if they spent too long in Marrowood their real bodies would die on earth, decomposing and becoming part of the soil.
Draigah
This is the magical energy that makes up everything in Marrowood. It is connected to the life force of creatures on earth. In order for Marrowood to exist, Pai must keep luring creatures into Marrowood. If no new creatures come to Marrowood, Pai will consume the souls of the creatures living there, taking their remaining Drai. Without Draigah Marrowood itself will begin to die.
The creatures of Marrowood use Drai in different ways. When their earthly body is still alive, they can change their form in Marrowood morphing into different creatures and harnessing an array of magical abilities. Once they die, their form solidifies. They are left with one magical ability, for instance: healing, beam of heat, summoning wings made of Drai mists.
Marrowood Creatures
Tuttlach
Tuttlachs are creatures that live in the cloud born mountain ranges of Speair. They use their dangling eye to observe the creatures below. Using a stream of Drai from their snout eye, they are able to etch what they see into the mountain walls. They have incredibly long lifespans, and so they are considered the most knowledgeable creatures on the history of Marrowood.
Nairsee
Nairsee are large animals mostly dwelling in the fields and forests. Nairsee can use their Drai to sprout misty wings. Nairsee have a pouch they use to carry small creatures between the earth and sky landscapes.
Awara
Awara are small creatures with a very important role to play in the shaping of Speair. Awara are able to use their Drai to repair living flesh. As they move through the root systems, they repair the roots that they break, creating vast systems of netted tunnels.
